SPA Wiking style

Experience true spa and get your blood circulation going the authentic Viking way!

Here, we enjoy bathing year-round, and Lysekil has its very own bathhouse, built over 100 years ago, exclusively for this purpose!

Lysekil was the fourth seaside resort established on the West Coast in the 1800s, and in 1847, Havsbadet (Sea Bath) was founded in Lysekil, where the historic cold-water bathhouse was later built in 1906. Staying at a seaside resort was a fashionable and attractive experience among the society in the mid-1800s. It was believed that bathing should promote health, and particularly bathing in seawater was considered beneficial. Year-round. The unique quality of the air along the coast, with salty winds and "strong air," was considered especially healthy. Furthermore, the bathing doctor Carl Curman believed that it was healthy to drink seawater as well. The recommendation was half a glass a day in the morning. Mixing seawater with whiskey was a popular way to start the day. Many seaside environments have been affected by the passage of time, but Lysekil's cold-water bathhouse lives on with the support of the Friends of the Cold-Water Bathhouse.

Here, you will experience the curative effects of these health baths. A dip in the fresh waters of Gullmaren stimulates blood circulation, and afterward, you can warm up in the wood-fired sauna.
